The educational programme is designed to enhance the critical thinking skills and foster the scientific independence of doctoral candidates. It includes participation in highly specialised courses and involvement in experimental research activities, both of which are crucial for the PhD student future career development. Moreover, the programme provides doctoral candidates with opportunities to collaborate on studies and research with esteemed international institutes and research centres, both within the country and overseas. This enables them to expand their knowledge and gain internationally recognised training. Doctoral candidates will be trained to acquire interdisciplinary skills that enable them to understand, utilise, and develop innovative solutions in the promotion of human health, disease prevention starting from environmental protection, biodiversity, ecosystems and their services.
The learning activities in the doctoral programme can be divided as follow:
• Training activities to address any educational gap in one or more of the academic fields covered by the multidisciplinary doctorate.
• Lenctures dedicated to the PhD students of the programme.

• Transversal training activities provided by the IUSS.

• Advanced training activities.
• Tutoring and teaching support activities.
